As a coach, I am passionate about my team walking together as we enter onto a field. Before each game, we walk lockstep in two organized lines and mentally prepare for our next challenge. It is a sign of unity, helps our kids to remain focused, and encourages an urgent mindset that the game is already at hand.
When I look at our incredible FCA team and the ministry that it encompasses, I see us all walking onto the field together as a unified body of Christ. I am thankful for our outstanding leadership team that is led by our president, Shane Williamson, and the group of individuals that serve alongside him. I am excited for the many global leaders that are ministering under Dan Britton’s leadership, and for the expansion of FCA to other countries around the world. I am also honored to serve on a diverse team that God has raised up within our region. Our different ages, spiritual gifts, sports backgrounds, and experiences before joining FCA staff makes for one amazing home team that walks step-in-step together for the Lord. Our team represented FCA’s theme verse Philippians 1:27 in so many ways!
“Above all, you must live as citizens of heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ. Then, whether I come and see you again or only hear about you, I will know that you are standing together with one spirit and one purpose, fighting together for the faith, which is the Good News.”Philippians 1:27 (NLT)
This year’s FCA Camp theme, “One,” rallies around the importance of moving, competing, and living as a unified front. A chance to combine strengths, supplement weaknesses, and set out as an unstoppable force for the sake of the gospel. Where we falter, others can stabilize, all inspired from God’s initial example of the Trinity, God three in one.
Last year, over 113,000 campers around the world experienced Jesus Christ through an FCA camp and we couldn’t be more excited for the year to come. As we close out 2017 and walk into 2018 together, we’d love for you to consider what role you could play on our FCA team.
Being a team member could include taking a few minutes each day to pray for 41 staff members by name or volunteering one hour a month with us within your local community.
As a teammate, you could also consider FCA as a ministry to partner with financially throughout this upcoming year. You could even help us get connected with other potential team members who might be interested in our ministry’s vision.
Whatever role you might consider, know that our FCA team is simply made up of faithful servants who choose to live their lives for Jesus Christ. We appreciate those of you who stand with us and further the Gospel to coaches and athletes all across the globe. Together, let’s walk step-in-step with one spirit and one purpose into this next promising year!
Since 1954, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes has been challenging coaches and athletes on the professional, college, high school, junior high and youth levels to use the powerful medium of athletics to impact the world for Jesus Christ. FCA focuses on serving local communities by equipping, empowering and encouraging people to make a difference for Christ – to see the world impacted for Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes.
