Equipped with years of experience on the soccer field and a desire to serve the Lord, Stanley Passoni is making great strides in reaching others as an FCA Area Representative in Westchester, New York.
“FCA is all about connecting ministry and sports together, which are two things that I love most in this world,” says Passoni. “I’m excited and eager to teach more coaches and athletes about the love of Jesus through the sport of soccer and to connect them with local churches.”
Born in Minas Gerais, Brazil, Passoni has been playing soccer for most of his life. After moving to Mount Vernon, New York with his family, he participated in teams throughout grade school, high school, and his brief time spent at Westchester Community College. “I had many opportunities to pursue soccer as a career,” says Passoni. “But I felt like God was calling me out of that dream and into ministry instead. It was a tough decision that I had to make, but I knew that God had a bigger purpose for my life.”
After working in the field of carpentry for a few years, Passoni decided to pursue a career in Pastoral Ministry at Nyack College and plans to graduate in 2021. After serving as a youth leader for several years at his local Brazilian church, Fountains for the Nations, Passoni was anointed as a Youth Pastor in 2017. He also continues to volunteer at a youth soccer ministry in White Plains, New York.
When he isn’t working or studying, Passoni can be found playing soccer, leading small groups, and spending time with his family.
Since 1954, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes has been challenging coaches and athletes on the professional, college, high school, junior high and youth levels to use the powerful medium of athletics to impact the world for Jesus Christ. FCA focuses on serving local communities by equipping, empowering and encouraging people to make a difference for Christ – to see the world impacted for Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes.
