Lesley Perera, born and raised on the South Shore of Massachusetts, is the perfect fit to lead the growth and development of FCA as the new Plymouth County Area Director. Lesley, who grew up and played sports locally, is a life-long participant of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and has a deep passion to pursue the mission of FCA by reaching coaches and athletes for Jesus Christ.
“I’m looking forward to building a team on the South Shore that can make a substantial impact across Plymouth County. I’m excited about working with the many coaches I know to launch huddles and build into lives, equipping them to be transformational in their coaching,” says Lesley. “I also want to make it a priority to reach every student in our local middle and high schools through FCA.”
Lesley was recruited and played basketball at Wheaton College in Illinois where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in history in 2012. While at Wheaton, eager to build relationships and fellowship with other college athletes, she formed an FCA Huddle for female athletes on campus. After graduating, she went on to work at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as an Admissions Coordinator and as a Marketing Coordinator for their Sloan School of Management. She was an integral member of the team that launched MIT’s new Integrated Design and Management Program and helped to admit their first cohort of students.
With a passion for history, Lesley volunteers at Leyden Preservation Group, her family’s nonprofit organization, where she focuses on educating and preserving America’s early Christian history. She also coached basketball for several years for the South Shore YMCA Special Olympics and she serves at her local church with the young adult ministry and as an event planner for several annual church events.
Since 1954, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes has been challenging coaches and athletes on the professional, college, high school, junior high and youth levels to use the powerful medium of athletics to impact the world for Jesus Christ. FCA focuses on serving local communities by equipping, empowering and encouraging people to make a difference for Christ – to see the world impacted for Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes.
