During the final days of 2018, sports fans will be watching the highlights and debating which is the greatest moment of the year. When I reflect on this past year, for me, November 7 is the uncontested “greatest moment of the year.” On that day when FCA’s Northeast staff gathered for our annual staff retreat, they committed to intentionally invest their lives in a group of 76 coaches over the next 9 months.
I am so thankful for the many new communities that God has opened doors for FCA to have a presence in over the last few years. Yet, while I’m excited about the reach of FCA’s growing ministry, I’m even more excited about the commitment our staff has made to truly live out what Paul said in 2 Timothy 2:
“You have heard me teach things that have been confirmed by many reliable witnesses. Now teach these truths to other trustworthy people who will be able to pass them on to others.”
As you prayerfully consider supporting FCA in 2019, please pray for our staff as we press ahead in the upcoming months to go deep with a few, and share God’s word. As we intentionally invest in the lives of coaches and they grow in the knowledge of God’s love and His word, they will grow into the trustworthy leaders that God has designed them to be! As the Holy Spirit empowers them in the years and decades ahead, we know there will be many greatest moments of the year because of the work God is doing in and through these coaches.
Since 1954, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes has been challenging coaches and athletes on the professional, college, high school, junior high and youth levels to use the powerful medium of athletics to impact the world for Jesus Christ. FCA focuses on serving local communities by equipping, empowering and encouraging people to make a difference for Christ – to see the world impacted for Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes.
