Dan Choi’s love of sports came from the aspect of community building. Growing up in various places around the World – Seoul, Christchurch, Massachusetts, and now New York City, Dan had always found a strong sense of community in sports. Like many around him, he played sports growing up, competing on his high school’s soccer and tennis teams. He always enjoyed the strong sense of community and thought that he would want to serve in this community one day.
It was not until Dan encountered FCA that he realized that his strong attraction to sports had to do with his Christian faith. During a lunch in 2016 with Jensen Ko, Sean McNamara, and Frank Reynoso in New York City, Dan was moved by the men’s passion to serve God and to serve the youth through FCA. In the following summer, he attended the FCA camp at Kutztown and saw firsthand the powerful impact it had on the camp attendees.
Since 2017, Dan has served as Vice President of Private Equity, Credit & Venture investments for one of South Korea’s largest asset managers, helping build out the New York office. Previously, he was an investment professional at CVC, a diversified global asset manager, based in New York City. He started his career at Citigroup.
Dan received a B.S. in applied mathematics and an M.A. in statistics from Columbia University. He currently resides in New York City with his wife and daughter. The family attends Campus Mission Church on the Upper West Side.
