Anna McNamara is excited about the way God is moving locally and feels humbled to be a part of it in her new role as administrative assistant for the Upstate NY FCA Ministry. “It is very encouraging to see the impact that the FCA lacrosse teams are having here. We see a lot of kids who normally wouldn’t attend church who are now signing up for our lacrosse teams,” McNamara said.
As a child growing up in Kingston, Ontario, McNamara recalls that faith was always important to her family. At age seven, she personally made a decision for Christ while at an Awanas Club meeting. And now, McNamara and her husband Sean are raising their four children, Grace, Luke, Caleb and Ella, to know that Christ is to be a part of every aspect of their lives.
McNamara earned her Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Roberts Wesleyan College in 2001. After working at a home for boys for six months and then teaching pre-school in Washington, DC for a year and a half, she married and joined her husband Sean who was on staff at FCA’s National Support Center in Kansas City, MO. She enjoyed assisting Sean with the FCA lacrosse ministry from 2002-2007 while in Kansas City and Baltimore, and now back in Rochester, since 2010. “Using the vehicle of sports to influence coaches who then influence the kids — loving on people – that’s FCA,” McNamara said.
McNamara and her family attend Northridge Church in Irondequoit and reside in Spencerport, NY. She likes to crochet – a few years ago she began an online crochet business — and she enjoys reading Christian fiction.
