Anne Shannon was drawn to FCA’s ministry after witnessing the passion many of the local staff members had for Christ, for each other and for excellence: “I have been involved with other youth ministries and there was something about FCA that drew me in – the people who are involved are on fire for spreading God’s word here and beyond — and I wanted to be a part of that.”
Shannon moved to the Rochester area 20 years ago from New York City after completing her Masters in English from Columbia University. She holds a Bachelors of Arts in English from Allegheny College and a Certificate of Educational Administration from SUNY Brockport. After serving as a secondary level English teacher for ten years locally, and as a school administrator for The Harley School’s summer inner city program, she worked as a consultant in strategic planning and grant development where she aided her clients in program development and evaluation, and proposal writing.
Her current volunteer work includes serving as race director for the local Young Life’s annual 5K and Veteran’s Day 5K road races, and teaching Sunday School. In the past she has served as Board Chair, Bethany Christian Services; Core Leader, Community Bible Study; and was a member of the Honeoye Falls-Lima School District’s Strategic Planning Committee.
Shannon lives in Mendon, NY with her husband Mike and their two children Grace (12) and John (6). They attend Victor Community Church. She loves cooking, trail running, nordic skiing and spending time outdoors with her family and friends.
