Joe DeZelle

Campus Director, United States Military Academy

Born and raised in Hawkins, Texas, Joe DeZelle was a three-sport athlete in high school and lettered in football and baseball at East Texas Baptist University (ETBU). During his college years Jesus radically captured his heart. Shortly after, God allowed DeZelle and some of his teammates to start a team Bible study that eventually transformed into the campus FCA ministry.

DeZelle served as a counselor at several middle and high school FCA camps across the country after graduation, which led to an opportunity to join staff with FCA in Harrisonburg, VA where he was Area Representative for five years, which included serving as campus director at James Madison University (JMU), Bridgewater College and Eastern Mennonite University.

After five fruitful years of ministry, DeZelle moved to the Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) area for a nine-month intensive discipleship program with Pastor Tommy Nelson at Denton Bible Church. After completing the discipleship program, he transitioned into a full time Area Director position with DFW FCA.

DeZelle became FCA Campus Director at the United States Military Academy in West Point, NY in June 2015 where he is the chaplain for Army Football, serves coaches and athletes involved in all campus sports offerings, and works with the FCA student leadership teams.

DeZelle’s wife Haley works part time at St. Luke’s Newburgh Hospital as a Speech and Language Pathologist.  The couple, who currently reside near West Point’s campus in Fort Montgomery, NY, are the parents of a beautiful daughter, Emery-Grace, born January 2015.  The DeZelle’s enjoy working out together – running, lifting, hiking.  They also like travelling and being foodies.
