Michael White

Area Representative, Hudson Valley

As Hudson Valley Area Representative Michael White plans to use his 5 years of FCA experience and 35 years of coaching experience to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ through the platform of athletics within the Hudson Valley area.

“I love athletics and I love coaching and shaping athletes. Coaches have so much influence, so we need to make sure they are doing things positively. I will work on developing not just coaches who merely call themselves Christian, but who are Christian Coaches; not coaches who believe they might become a legend, but coaches who leave a legacy. If we can reach coaches, they can reach athletes and athletes can reach their families. My long term goal is to establish huddles in every school district in the Hudson Valley,” White said.

White’s involvement with FCA began in 2012 when he coached track and field and cross country running at Camp Kutztown. He soon began FCA’s first huddle at Washingtonville High, and in 2016 he started an on-line Hudson Valley Coaches Bible Study. He now serves as the Co-Director of the cross country and track and field programs at Kutztown.

White received his BS in Special Education from Rutgers University. He recently retired from teaching special education at his alma mater, Washingtonville High, a position he has held since 1983, serving as Department Chair since 2006. He continues to coach cross country and track and field at Washingtonville, serving as Head Coach the last 20 years, and coaching all five of his children in both sports during his 33 year tenure. He served as assistant coach for baseball and wresting at Washingtonville, and also coached Little League Baseball for 21 years and CYO basketball for 12 years.

White and his wife Robin, whom he describes as “his rock who has supported him throughout all his years of coaching,” reside in Washingtonville. The couple enjoy spending time together walking and travelling to visit their five grown children. They attend Grace Community Church where White has served in youth ministry, as recreational director for VBS, and sport-specific camps.
