Syracuse University Campus Director
Nathan Bliss began his journey as Fellowship of Christian Athlete’s Syracuse University Director in the fall of 2011. Having completed his undergraduate in Religious Studies at SU, he immediately felt at ease with the student body. In his first semester alone, the size of the campus huddle almost doubled.
“I had been in the area for four years prior to my start with FCA,” states Bliss. “I knew God had something for us here, but I did not know what it was.”
Bliss, blown away by the maturity of the student leaders he worked with from the outset, quickly found out. A desire rose up to make the university a tangible example of Christ’s challenge to his followers to be as a city on a hill. The huddle outgrew its facilities, and a Bible study for coaches started. The solid FCA foundation Bliss continues to build on promises that the ministry, which fosters leadership development and discipleship, will be a vehicle of lasting change at Syracuse for years to come.
Bliss brings collegiate athletic experience in football and volleyball, as well as a Master’s Degree in Christian Education from Dallas Theological Seminary to his position. He lives with his wife, Julia, and their three children just outside of campus.
“And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.”2 Timothy 2:2 (NIV)
