Paula Mitchell

Area Representative, Women’s Lacrosse

Paula Mitchell is excited to be joining FCA staff as the Area Representative for Girls Lacrosse. Her relationship with FCA began when her son Joshua began playing for FCA’s 2022 Navy team two years ago. “I am blessed to be able to share my passion for lacrosse and serve God in a unique ministry like FCA where you are able to share the love of Christ through sports. Each player serves a unique role on a team; each coach serves a specific purpose on a team. It is my passion as a coach to work on combining talents, creating an atmosphere of growth, and building excitement and fun for the game,” she said.

Mitchell’s inspiration to serve in this role came from the book of Esther: “This is a favorite book of mine because it shows how God used one ordinary person to do extraordinary things for His Glory. It is a blessing to realize that we are called to serve Him in ‘such a time as this” (Esther 3:14).

Mitchell was Rutgers University Graduate Assistant Coach from 1998-2000. While living in Pittsburgh, PA from 2000-2005 she was Head Varsity Lacrosse Coach at Upper St. Clair High School, and she also served as a student athlete counselor at the University of Pittsburgh. She coached Storm Youth Lacrosse for five years.

A graduate of Cicero-North Syracuse High School, Mitchell played varsity lacrosse from 1994-98, serving as captain her senior year. At Rutgers University, her lacrosse career included playing starting goalie for four years, where she was a 3 year captain, All-American honors and being selected goalie for Central Region National Tournament Team ’95-’98. In 2000 she was awarded Most Influential Female Lacrosse in 25 years. Mitchell graduated from Rutgers with a BA in Psychology and an M.Ed.

A resident of Greece, NY, Mitchell and her husband Scott have two sons Joshua (12) and Caleb (10), and a daughter Julia (8). Mitchell credits her parents’ example of family unity and strength through thick and thin: “They always taught me to aim high on this journey of life, learn to fall graciously and pick myself up again.”
