MIKE VINING
State Director, New Hampshire
Mike Vining feels as though he has been in training for the New Hampshire State Director job at FCA for his entire life. He is eager to bring his professional experience, energy and, most importantly, his faith to the ministry. “Everything that FCA does is what I have been trying to do for much of my life: coaching, teaching, trying to spread the Gospel of Christ in everything that I do – now I get to do this for my full time job,” Vining said.
A native of Bangor Maine, Vining received his B.S. in Marketing from Husson University in Bangor. He has over 25 years of experience as a sales management executive in the consumer packaged goods industry, including 12 years as a National Sales Manager with Unilever, and over three years with the Dole Food Company, living in California, where he served as Director of Sales. In 2000 he was named National Sales Director at Electronic Scrip, Inc., during its start-up phase, where he remained until 2015.
After nearly thirty years in the business world, Vining has been with FCA since 2015, and with Electronics Scrip’s business winding down, Vining is excited to begin a new chapter in his career. “I am grateful for the chance to make a difference in young peoples lives through this ministry one coach at a time, one player at a time, one team at a time.
“I joined FCA to further the ministry of God’s Word in the lives of coaches and their athletes. FCA provides me with the opportunity to truly help give coaches the tools they need to be the best they can be, and help their players build character and become stronger players and better teammates through learning God’s Word,” Vining said.
Vining has coached softball for 20 years, he coached at Portsmouth Christian Academy where he is the head varsity softball coach. Additionally, he has coached the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) summer travel teams and won the New Hampshire State Championship, and coached in multiple Softball World Series.
Vining resides in Dover, NH with his wife Gerri: “She is my number one coaching supporter, and partner in my Christian walk.” Vining regularly leads a men’s Bible study group at First Parish Church, where he and his wife taught Sunday School for ten years.
The couple has two daughters — both softball players whom Vining has had the pleasure of coaching while at Portsmouth Christian, and who have each been awarded state titles during their softball careers and both earned New Hampshire High School Pitcher of the year awards. Alicia attends American University in Washington, DC and Ashley attends Grove City College in Pennsylvania.
